Door Joints and Gasket materials

Choice of Door Joint materials.

We stock ready made door joints in three types of material. They are:

1) Graphited Prekev
2) Blue Max
3) Topog 'E'

We now also stock Tefcan universal joint sealing, supplied on a coil.

A brief description of their properties is given below:

Graphited Prekev:
Manufactured from Keramab Prekev rubberized cloth with stainless steel insert.
Properties: Resistant to water, steam and aqueous solutions from pH3 to pH13.
Manufacturers stated max temperature: 250°C
Manufacturers stated max pressure: 35 bar (500psi)
Blue Max:
When used on steam pressure vessels, Blue Max is suitable for use up to 31 bar (450psi).
Installation involves a mandatory curing time, during which expansion of the joint occurs. This makes the material particularly suited to rough and pitted surfaces.  (See installation instructions)

Topog-E:
When used on steam pressure vessels, Topog-E Gaskets are typically used at operating pressures of up to 180 psi (12.4 bar) and 380°F. (193°C.) for an average service life of up to one year.

Topog-E Gaskets are sometimes used at pressures above 200 psi (14 bar), but their useful life is reduced under these severe conditions.

When used in other applications (e.g. condensate, water, and air vessels) where operating conditions are less severe, (e.g. below 250°F./121°C), Topog-E Gaskets can provide very long service lives.
(See installation instructions)

Tefcan Joint Sealant:
Tefcan is made from expanded PTFE and features a self adhesive backing strip for ease of installation. Tefcan provides a superior and cost effective alternative to standard gasket sheeting. It is ideal for complex or large gaskets and for re-sealing damaged, worn or distored flanges.
Typical applications include pipe flanges and manhole gaskets.
Tefcan compresses to form a thin, wide gasket taking up surface flaws and has such good sealing properties that size selection is not usuallly critical.

Service Limits:
Gasket temperature: -240C to +310C
Internal pressure: Full vacuum to 3000psi

Full technical specifications of the above materials are available on request  please contact our sales office.
Correct installation of all boiler joints is most important and manufacturer's instructions must always be closely followed.
