Accessible WC Facility Upgrade
Neuromuscular Centre

In 2022, Chanter Biomed Limited was commissioned by Matthew Lanham OBE, Chief Executive of The Neuromuscular Centre, to upgrade two existing WC facilities. As a long-standing customer, the Centre entrusted us to provide a modern, accessible, and hygienic solution tailored to the needs of their service users.

The project presented specific challenges due to the very low ceiling height, which restricted the installation of standard ceiling track systems. To overcome this, our engineering team specified and installed Guldmann in-track ceiling hoists, offering full transfer coverage within the limited headroom available.

To enhance independence and dignity for users, we fitted a Geberit high–low bidet WC system, allowing for easy height adjustment and improved hygiene. Complementing this, Hewi basins with integrated grab rails were installed to provide both stability and modern aesthetics.

For long-term durability and ease of maintenance, the walls were finished with hygienic, easy-clean wall panelling, eliminating grout lines and reducing bacterial build-up. The facility also includes a walk-in shower with a low-level tray, ensuring effortless access for wheelchair users and carers alike.

The completed installation has transformed the facilities, delivering a safe, clean, and user-friendly environment. The Neuromuscular Centre team commended the quality of workmanship, professionalism, and attention to detail shown throughout the project.

This project demonstrates Chanter Biomed’s ability to design and deliver bespoke accessibility solutions, even in complex or space-limited environments, ensuring functionality, comfort, and compliance with modern healthcare standards.
